The 5th Line 5K Race Presented By OhioHealth

Weather & Race Updates

WEATHER & RACE DAY CONDITIONS

We're expecting very cold morning temperatures around race start. Please plan ahead and dress for winter running and walking, including layers, gloves, hats, and face coverings as needed. Many runners choose to wear an extra outer layer or disposable clothing while waiting at the start, which can be removed just before the race begins.

The 5th Line 5K will start outdoors on Nationwide Blvd and finish inside Nationwide Arena, giving runners and walkers a warm, indoor finish area to recover, celebrate and warm up after crossing the line. As a reminder, Nationwide Arena's main concourse will open at 8 a.m. to stay warm before the start of the race.

Be mindful of time spent outdoors before and after the race, especially if spectating or waiting for others to finish. Listen to your body and use your best judgment.

Additionally, if you feel it's too cold, we offer a Virtual 5th Line 5K. If you want to move from in-person to Virtual, just let us know at Packet Pick Up and we can provide a finisher's medal along with your shirt and bib.

Cold-Weather Planning Tips:

  • Dress in adjustable layers
  • Wear gloves, a hat, and/or a face covering
  • Consider throwaway layers for the start line
  • Stay moving before the start to keep warm

We will continue to monitor weather and course conditions closely. If any changes to race operations are needed, all registered participants will be notified via email and social media.

PARTICIPANT SAFETY & COURSE HYDRATION

The safety of our participants, volunteers, event team, and everyone involved in the 5th Line 5K is our top priority as we work to deliver a remarkable race experience. Due to the forecasted very cold temperatures, we will not have a water station on the
course. This decision allows us to keep volunteers safe.

There will be plenty of water and Gatorade available in the finish line recovery area inside Nationwide Arena, where runners and walkers can warm up and refuel after finishing on Center Ice. Participants are encouraged to carry their own hydration.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we take steps to ensure a safe and enjoyable race for everyone.

Course Conditions:
Please be aware that some areas of the course may have snow or ice. We ask that all participants stay alert and mindful while on the course to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Shoe traction devices, such as YakTracks, are permitted.

We're excited to race with you and appreciate everyone's preparation and flexibility as we celebrate hockey, winter, running and walking in downtown Columbus!
