Downtown road race for runners and walkers highlights opening weekend of Columbus Blue Jackets Winter Park, presented by Worthington Industries

The 5th Line 5k Race

COLUMBUS, OH — The Columbus Blue Jackets and Columbus-based M3S Sports are teaming up to host The 5th Line 5K Race presented by OhioHealth on Sunday, February 5. The second-annual downtown road race offers runners and walkers an active way to celebrate the winter season with the Blue Jackets and will again highlight the Columbus Blue Jackets Winter Park presented by Worthington Industries.

The 5th Line 5K Race begins at 10am outside of Nationwide Arena and takes participants on a 3.1-mile tour of downtown Columbus and the Arena District before finishing on center ice of Nationwide Arena, home of the Blue Jackets. The event is limited to the first 3,000 runners and walkers. Participants may register now by visiting

“The 5th Line 5K has become one of the highlight of our Winter Park festivities,” said J.D. Kershaw, vice president of marketing for the Columbus Blue Jackets. “We look forward to again connecting the running community and casual fitness enthusiasts with our sport and watching thousands of runners and walker ‘Finish On Center Ice’ again at Nationwide Arena this February.”

Participants will receive a Columbus Blue Jackets-themed official finisher's medal, a Columbus Blue Jackets-themed long-sleeve, gender-specific technical race shirt.

Participants also two (2) ticket vouchers good for one of five select Columbus Blue Jackets games between February 9–March 7, 2017. Tickets are valid for the following games:

  • February 9 vs. Vancouver Canucks
  • February 13 vs. New York Rangers
  • February 15 vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
  • March 2 vs. Minnesota Wild
  • March 7 vs. New Jersey Devils

The 5th Line 5K Race will be among the highlights of the Columbus Blue Jackets Winter Park presented by Worthington Industries. The Columbus Blue Jackets Winter Park presented by Worthington Industries will take place at McFerson Commons, located across the street from Nationwide Arena, Friday February 3 through Sunday, February 26. The centerpiece of Winter Park will be the return of an NHL-sized ice rink that will be open for 24 days of public skating, hockey and a variety of community events. For more information, visit
